The Mullenium Arches

The Millenium Archs were designed by Sebastian (sculptor Enrique Carvajal) originally to celebrate the arrival of the… you guessed!! The new Millenium. Well the problem is that the sculptor said that this work was going to cost 12.5 million pesos (137.5 million dollar) but the planner saw that its was really 50million pesos worth (550 million dollar).

The weirdest thing is that actually nobody really knows how much money has been expended because there were many private associations that gave money, but not enough because since 2003 the arches were left as you can see them, and according to the original model there are still two arches to build.

We hope to have this done by next millennium!!

That's the thing. It has no purpose, suposedly it is for commemorate the millenium, but... we could have built the new millenium hospital or something.

They are sort of cool to look at as you drive by...haha, probably not worth the money though. There are so many other beautiful places and things to see in the city.
